This sermon confronts the questions people rarely say out loud but often feel: “If God is good, why do the wicked prosper?” 

Psalm 73 shows that even spiritual giants wrestle with these questions. Asaph — the prophetic worship leader of Israel — admits, “I was envious… when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.” His crisis wasn’t rebellion; it was perception. His theology said God is good, but his eyes told him the world was upside down.

Then came the turning point that defines the entire But God series: “Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then I understood…”

In God’s presence, Asaph sees what he couldn’t see alone: the wicked aren’t secure, the righteous aren’t abandoned, and the “good life” isn’t what it looks like. His clarity erupts in the line that anchors the whole sermon: “My flesh and my heart fail; but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”

This message declares the truth that dismantles envy, steadies faith, and reframes reality: The good life isn’t the life without trouble — it’s the life where God is enough.
